Great class today! A big thank you to our presenters--I know this workshop really got me thinking about how I am going to bring RA 2.0 home to my library. I'm hoping to turn "Book Bites" (our monthly book group w/ snacks) into "Book Bytes"--a blog, or maybe even a wiki!
I was hoping the gentleman who spoke up about RSS Feeds today might share his thoughts online with all of us. They sounded kind of cool and manageable for even the beginning 2.0-er.
Also, I'd love to hear more from the lady who suggested creating some sort of 2.0 book group guide!
Finally, I know we had at least two luminaries in our midst today (in addition to our awesome speakers). I would love to hear Cindy Mediavilla's and Joni Bodart's thoughts and suggestions.
From the presenters:
Thanks so much for the great feedback! We were all so pleased to meet so many interesting people, all interested in RA and RA2.0. We'll be figuring out how to develop this wiki in the coming weeks, but for the time being we wanted to add the information that all of you shared with us during the workshop.

There are three main things to consider when planning 2.0 activities: Goals, Limitations, and Resources
Possible Goals:
IM alerts when new books of interest are added to the catalog
Setting up an RSS feed to add content to library webpages/set up RSS feeds for library blogs
Work through "23 things" list of RA technologies from the Charlotte Library: http://plcmclearning.blogspot.com/
Work with community book groups to produce and share booklists
Possible Limitations:
"Dinosaur" attitudes
Limited staff time
Lack of/different interests
Fear
Different levels of knowledge/high learning curve for certain technologies
Firewalls/permissions/technological concerns
Possible Resources:
Staff with specialized knowledge/skills/experience
Role of facilitator should be familiar to librarians
Bosses: it's often a good idea to learn their interests and angles when enlisting their support for new projects
Desire for group training/Easy-to-set-up internal wikis
